Day 206 Lisbon, Portugal

I had a marvelous day today. I went on a ship's tour to explore Portugal..... Here is the description of my shore excursion: Lisbon Sights, Sintra & Cascais
See some of the most important landmarks of Lisbon: the Tower of Belem, the Monument to the Discoveries and the Jeronimos Monastery. Continue to Sintra, a hillside town hailed by Lord Byron as a “Glorious Eden” for its dense, subtropical vegetation. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, and you will have some free time to explore the main Town Square, where the 15th-century Royal Palace is located. Shop, browse, or simply visit one of the cafés that spill out onto the sidewalks. Next, visit Cascais for time on your own to see and explore the early 20th-century manors. The countryside was just beautiful. We first went to Cascais which was a lovely fishing village with some impressive old manors.... Nice little village. Then we were off to Sintra.... Now this place is worthy of a much longer visit. A few things I didn't get to see were the Moorish Fort at the top of the mountain and the palace up on the mountain. I did go see the Royal Palace which was fantastic. I walked all over the village and even up to near the top of the mountain. The views were spectacular. Lunch was just amazing as well. Finally we headed back to Lisbon where we stopped to see the Jeronimos Monastery (this place was huge as well as beautiful), the Tower of Belem, and old fortification which was remarkable and the Monument to the Discoveries which was stunning..... Great day!

The beach looked amazing! Although, surprisingly empty.
