Day 155 At Sea

Tremendous day today!!!!! Just what I needed after a great night. The weather was just perfect. Tomorrow should be exciting, the Sultanate of Brunei. We should arrive around 0700 into Muara, Brunei. It is about a 45 minute drive to Bandar, the capital. I wonder if I’ll get to hang out with the Sultan….. probably not. I signed up for an all day excursion to check out the wonders of this place. Weather permitting, I may get some fabulous photos of a beautiful Mosque and the water village. It sounds exciting! Here is a description of the shore excursion:
Bandar Heritage
Begin this full-day heritage tour of Brunei with a stop at the open markets—a busy place where locals buy their daily food and other products, including handicrafts, local herbs and medicinal plants. The exhibits you will find at the Malay Technology Museum provide information on the Malays, ethnic tribes and their lifestyles. At the Brunei Museum, wander through the six galleries: a priceless collection of Islamic arts; Malay lifestyle and
wedding ceremony relics; the oil and gas industry development; a natural history museum; the royal lineage; and shipwreck treasures. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant; then,
in the afternoon, continue your heritage tour with a visit to the Jame Asr’ Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque. This is one of the most magnificent mosques in Asia with 29 golden domes. Continue on to the Royal Regalia Building, which was completed in 1992 to celebrate
the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. It is filled with pictures of the Crown Prince, the full Royal regalia used during the coronation, the crown, a replica of the throne room, and numerous gifts from the state dignitaries. Finally, climb aboard a water taxi for a visit to a stilt house where you can see the lifestyle of the locals.
