Day 164 Da Nang, Vietnam

Today was just marvelous. We arrived in Da Nang Vietnam around 8:00 this morning. It was my first visit here so I was pretty excited. Allan, Sandra, Apolonnia & I took off on an adventure of or own. We first went to Marble Mountains where marble was once quarried and now a shrine and cavern attract a number of tourists. It was a nice climb up the mountain and a beautiful place once we reached the top. In the cavern (Huyen Khong Cave) it was simply amazing the size of the statue of Buddha carved out of the rock, in place. The whole place was just magnificent. Next we went to the off to Hoi An. The town of Hoi An has remained pretty much unchanged for centuries. It lies along the Han River and is very picturesque. We had a great time cruising around the town shopping and having a great lunch….. The covered Japanese bridge is just amazing. We headed back to take a quick tour of Da Nang and we also stopped to checkout the pretty well known China Beach….. Great day! Tomorrow we have a sea day and then…. I get off the ship in Ho Chi Minh City and fly to Siem Reap Cambodia to visit Angkor Wat….. what an adventure….I’ll be gone for two nights, three days. I rejoin the ship in Singapore….

As always great photos. I really liked this set seeing the people of the country/city. Also the one of the fishing boat with the net being cast out, really cool.
